I have a few requests of you all during this summer break. Taking care of these things now will ease us up during the school year when we get even busier.
1. Get your passport! I can’t take anyone out of the country unless you have a valid passport. You have to have at least 1 parent go with you to the downtown (main) post office, so find some time to get that taken care of this summer. Cost is $110. There is a detailed section about passports in the Boot Camp packet. Also, the government website is http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/passports.html
2. Start taking pictures of your life so that you have plenty of pictures for your scrapbook. You will also want to include several pictures with your family stay letters. Here a ideas to get you started (remember, the more pictures you have, the better your conversations with your family will be): home, family, pets, school, school activities, school lunch, your car, you at your job, church, special occasions like homecoming or prom, clubs both at school and out in the real world. Including things you might think are boring might actually be interesting to them. Just think how we have talked about my pictures of beds, toilets, and refrigerators.
3. Research the places we will go. We have talked about this trip for a long time, but now it is time to own that trip. We will be in Munich, Münsingen, and Rothenburg ob der Tauber. I just updated my pinterest boards for each of these places. Start there and find things that you want to see, do, eat, etc. while we are on the trip. I will actually be asking you all about this and I don’t just want to hear “I don’t know”. I have boards for General Trip info (packing, ISE, money, etc), Munich, Family Stay/Münsingen, Rothenburg, and Foods to try while you are there. https://www.pinterest.com/fraulillskau/ Get your parents involved. Show them what you know you are going to do, and what you hope to be able to do.
As always, let me know if you have any questions.
